OPI Tangerine Scene and Yellin' for Watermelon

Again, with a polish that is more sheer than I'd like. I feel like the Tangerine is too sheer. I wanted it to be creamy and jelly-like. And I can still see my nails. I used Seche Clear as a base coat and I always use Seche Vite as a top coat. Also, when I do the pigs, I also paint my fingernails, leaving my ring finger to be the contrasting colors. So right now, eight of my fingernails are bright orange and two are hot pink.

Essie Mademoiselle and China Glaze For Audrey

It took four coats of Mademoiselle, and it's still sheer. This is why I tend toward the darker colors. I don't want to be able to see my nail under my nail polish. Otherwise, why on earth would I paint my nails?

OPI Ink and Curry Up, Don't Be Late

I used three coats of the Curry Up, because I wanted it be shiny, but not streaky. Sort of like brushed metal.

OPI Midnight in Moscow and You're a Doll

Midnight is one of my favorites. It's black/red. <3 it. I need to invest in some more pale colors. I need an unlimited nail polish budget.

OPI Ulta-Mate Ruby and It's Sheer Luck

This is one of my favorite jewel-toned reds. The sheer, pearly color is from an older collection. Now that I am using colors to complement each other, I am looking at shades I never would have worn before. I am generally opposed to pale, sheer colors, because I am pale and they wash me out. But mixed with more vibrant colors, for contrast? Me likey.

Rubies and pearls:

ORLY Black Vinyl with OPI Princess Rule as shimmer coat and ORLY It's Not Me, It's You

Barbie pink is not my style. I am a much darker girl. I layered Princesses Rule over a black for a holo effect. So, I wanted a pink to counteract that. I chose the bubblegummiest pink I have.

OPI Yellin' for Watermelon and Just Groovy

I was bummed when the Just Groovy didn't work out last time, so I gave it another go. I call this one Smurfberries.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruise and Recycle

Maybe I'll retire Recycle for a few weeks. I wore purple and green earrings and wanted to match.

OPI by Sephora Le Beau and ORLY Black Vinyl

VEGAS! I wanted to put little white dots over these, so it would look like dice. Ran out of time.

OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue and China Glaze Black Diamond

it's tough to see the differences in these two colors, but one is navy with golden shimmer and one is gunmetal grey with silver shimmer. Again, I'll blame the Sidekick.

China Glaze Pink Voltage and OPI Argenteeny Pinkini

I like the bright pink, but the pale pink just looks ashy to me.

OPI Suzi Says Da! and China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

I have a ring that has brown and turquoise rhinestones. I wanted my nails to match it.

OPI Catherine the Grape and Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal with OPI Brand New Skates as a shimmer coat

Oooo...this is one of my favorite combos of colors and it translated really well to the pigs.

OPI I'm Fondue of You and Curry Up, Don't Be Late

There's a golden shimmer in the Fondue, which really accented the Curry Up.

OPI Paint Your Moji-toes Red and Canberra it Without You

Mmmm...there's a little glitter in the Canberra It, but it's not so much that it makes the Moji-toes look flat.

OPI Purple with a Purpose and You're a Doll

This one is much better. I hadn't really like this purple before, which is weird because purple is my favorite color.

Monday, March 9, 2009

OPI Just Groovy and You're a Doll

The last matte/pearly combo worked. I try again. I hate this one and end up changing it.

OPI Curry Up, Don't Be Late and Kennebunk-port

I mix a matte and a pearl. It's pretty luscious.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Chanel L.A. Sunrise and Rescue Beauty Lounge Starfish Patrick

Ah, the grapefruit combo. It reminded me of the Tangerine Tart dessert at work. Both these polishes are a little sheer, so this is three coats of each. I probably could have gone with a fourth coat, but I went with it as is.

OPI Parlez Vous OPI and Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle

Here's a combo I can get behind: lilac and grey. Gorgeous. It's too bad I take all these shots with my cellphone, so the quality doesn't always show how lovely some of these colors are.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle and Revlon White on White

I like the dark mixed with the light. I feel like this one is a school color manicure. Not my school colors, but school colors nonetheless. Pic came out blurry.

Looking at these, it's apparent that I use this green polish quite a lot. It's one of my favorites.

OPI Ink, Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle with OPI Brand New Skates as shimmer coat

I finally figure out to take pictures of the looks I'm creating, so I don't repeat. This picture illustrates the importance of lighting your photos. You can't see the effect of the Brand New Skates over the Concrete Jungle, which was awesome. I end up using Brand New Skates as a shimmer coat often.
